Nainital is known as the ‘City Of Lakes’. The charming Himalayan lake town is a picture-perfect hill station and one of the most popular in Northern India. Commonly known as the ‘Lake District’, Nainital is nestled high up in the Kumaon Himalayas at an altitude of around 2,000m above sea level.

The Uttarakhand forest department has introduced a new Entry fee to visit Eco tourism site in Nainital where the entry fee of INR 50 per person will be charged for two popular eco-tourism spots in the Nainital district, ‘Tiffin Top’ and ‘China Peak’.

This new fee is meant to help the forest department raise money to keep the areas clean and manage waste properly in these sensitive natural spots.

Chandrashekar Joshi, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Nainital, talked and tried to explain the implementation of this Entry fee to visit Eco tourism site in Nainital. In which he said that this fee is necessary to manage the waste in a better way, especially in the usage of plastic, which has become a big concern among visitors.

Hence, by charging the entry fees, the forest department aims to create a sense of responsibility among the visitors towards maintaining the natural habitats clean.

This issue has also raised problems because not everyone is happy about the decision. Where Indu Pandey, a former chief secretary of Uttarakhand and Nainital resident is worried about this charging face as this may keep the nature lovers away. Because of this on social media, Pandey also shared concerns that the fee could hurt tourism and promised to talk to state government officials about it.

It was further highlighted by Indu Pandey that trekking people are facing difficulty due to the exploitation of these sites, especially ‘China Peak’, which is leading to a great challenge. Despite this natural beauty, the level of difficulty of the trek has decreased the number of visitors to Nainital, with this making an entry fee makes it unnecessary.

Along with eco-tourism sites in Nainital, Uttarakhand also offers several natural resources, and it is also a great spot for cultural attractions that make the visitors turn over here. The famous spots like Verdant forests, Pristine lakes, and the beautiful mountains provide an open door for enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Apart from Nainital, Uttarakhand also has many other pretty tourist destinations, which gives you a unique experience. You can explore places like the scenic hill stations of Mussoorie and Ranikhet to the spiritual sanctuaries of Rishikesh and Haridwar, offering you ample opportunities for exploration and adventure.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
