With its golden domes, big gardens, and gates that shine in the sunlight, Istana Negara looks every bit royal. Sitting on the green slopes of Bukit Petaling and overlooking the Klang River, the palace still feels grand. Inside, there are two parts to explore – the National Palace Gallery and the Balairong Seri (which is a fancy name for the Throne Room). From lavish furniture to personal keepsakes and nostalgic photos that give you a glimpse into royal life.
Want to feel like royalty for a day? Whether you enjoy history or just like imagining a royal life, Istana Negara is worth a visit!
The new palace was carefully designed to blend Islamic and Malay architecture, showcasing Malaysia’s cultural identity. One of its most striking features is the 22 domes, with the largest shaped like layered beetle leaves. At night, the palace domes light up, and the colors shift depending on the royal events taking place, making it a glowing symbol of the nation’s monarchy.
Today, Istana Negara stands as a grand and modern home for Malaysia’s King while honoring the rich traditions of the past.
