The Jembong waterfall is a man-made waterfall located in the middle of cocoa plantations in North Bali. It’s a small waterfall, away from the crowds, making it a great option for those looking for a peaceful waterfall experience without the usual tourist crowds.

Jembong Ambengan Waterfall comprises two levels. The initial waterfall stands at approximately 15 metres in height. The water cascades over the rocks instead of free-falling, creating a natural reservoir beneath with a depth of about 1 metre. 

Being one of the best waterfalls in Bali, the waterfall offers a refreshing natural view and clean, fresh water, providing a relaxing escape from the more crowded tourist spots in Bali. The Jembong waterfall is well-maintained, featuring a beautiful mini-garden and fishponds, and it’s jointly managed by residents of Jembong Village. How to Reach Jembong Waterfall

Jembong Waterfall is located in Ambengan Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency, in the northern part of Bali. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to reach this natural wonder:

1. From Denpasar or Kuta:

  • The journey by car or scooter from Denpasar or Kuta to Jembong Waterfall takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
  • Head north towards Singaraja, the largest city in the Buleleng Regency. The route via Jalan Raya Bedugul-Singaraja is the most common, passing through scenic highlands and traditional villages.

2. From Ubud:

  • The trip from Ubud takes about 2 hours.
  • Travel north on Jalan Raya Marga-Apuan and follow the signs towards Bedugul and then Singaraja.

3. From Lovina:

  • If you’re staying in Lovina, the drive is much shorter, around 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Head south through Jalan Seririt-Singaraja, then east towards Ambengan Village.
For those who prefer not to drive, hiring a private driver or joining a guided tour are convenient alternatives. Public transportation options are limited and less reliable for reaching the waterfall.

1. Jembong Waterfall Trekking

The walk to Jembong waterfall is moderately easy and suitable for most fitness levels. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views along the way. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect:

Trailhead:

  • The trek begins at the parking area, where you can also find local vendors selling refreshments.

Pathway:

  • The path is a mix of paved steps and natural trails. It winds through lush forests, past small streams, and offers glimpses of local wildlife.

  • The trek is not particularly strenuous, but there are some steep and slippery sections. Taking your time and using the provided handrails where available will make the hike safer and more enjoyable.

  • The hike to the waterfall typically takes about 15-20 minutes one way. Allow extra time to explore and enjoy the surroundings.
