Kaindy Lake, Almaty, wasn’t always a lake. It was created by an earthquake in 1911, which caused a large landslide. This landslide blocked a river, and over time, the valley filled with water, flooding a forest of spruce trees. The result is Kaindy Lake, Almaty, a place where you can see the tops of these trees poking out above the water, while their roots remain hidden below. The lake is about 400 meters long, and its depth reaches up to 30 meters, but what really makes it special is its one-of-a-kind scenery.
