By Air: The nearest airport is Kannur International Airport (100 km) away. You can hire a taxi or take a bus from the airport to reach Wayanad.

By Train: The closest railway station is Kozhikode (Calicut) Railway Station (110 km). From there, you can take a cab or local bus to reach Mananthavady, the nearest town to Kuruvadweep.

By Road: Well-connected by state highways, it’s easily accessible from major towns like Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery, and Mananthavady. Private taxis and buses are available from all major cities of Kerala to reach Kuruvadweep.

Kuruvadweep Entry Fee & Timings

Before you plan your trip, take note of the Kuruvadweep entry fee and timings. So that you can easily manage time to reach Kuruva Island from your resorts in Wanayad.

  • Entry Fee: The entry fees for Kuruva Island for Adults is INR 80 (Indians), INR 150 (Foreigners) whereas for children this is INR 40. If you wish to enjoy boating here the boating fee is INR 100 per person.
  • Timings: The timings for Kuruva Island are 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Closed during monsoons due to safety concerns).

Best Time to Visit Kuruvadweep

The best time to visit Kuruvadweep is from October to May, when the weather is pleasant and dry, making it perfect for trekking and boating. If you want to trek in Wayanad or birdwatch then you should visit Kuruva Island in Winter from October to February. Summer is the perfect time for short treks which are from the month of March to May. The Kuruva Island remains closed during Monsoon which is from the month of June to September due to heavy rainfall and rising river levels.

Travel Tips for Visiting Kuruvadweep

  • Only 575 visitors are allowed per day, so plan your visit in advance.
  • Apply insect or mosquito repellent to avoid bites while trekking.
  • Do not litter; keep the place clean and respect nature.
  • Plastic is banned on the island, so carry alternatives.
  • Drinking and smoking are not allowed.
  • There are no changing rooms or washrooms on the island, so plan accordingly.
  • Take a guide along if you plan to go trekking.
  • Wear anti-leech socks to protect yourself during treks.
  • Wear strong and comfortable shoes as the trek involves walking on rough paths.
  • Carry a raincoat or umbrella since the forest can have sudden rain showers.
