Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong is an old Chinese Temple, that is known to be one of the best places to visit in Bali! This temple is only a short walk away from the seaside Pura Segara Temple, which is another landmark in the area. Also, it is a 15-minute drive from Lovina Beach! 

The Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong temple dates back to 1873 with some connections to the Ching Dynasty and is a silent witness to the town’s colorful past, which is amazing. The Singaraja locals refer to this temple by the name “Klenteng” a narrow term that is said for the Chinese Buddhist Temples.

Things to Expect in Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong Temple

As you approach the Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong Temple, you will be greeted by traditional Chinese gateways with beautiful carvings and colorful magic. These gateways are known as Paifanf, which mark the entrance to the temple complex and symbolize the transition from the world to the sacred realm. 

Once you go inside the Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong Temple, you will be surrounded by pavilions that are decorated with dragon motifs, statues of mythical creatures, and colorful lanterns swaying gently in the breeze. 

The best part is the main hall of the Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong temple which is dedicated to Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy in Chinese Buddhism. Also, the tourists come to pay their respects to the deity at the carved altar, with offerings like flowers, fruits, and incense. Also, this temple serves as a cultural center for the local Chinese community, hosting traditional ceremonies, festivals, and unique experiences in Bali! 

You can also visit the temple’s gift shop to purchase souvenirs, incense sticks, prayer beads, and ornamental trinkets to remember your visit to the Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong Temple. 

Entry Fee for Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong Temple

There is no entry fee for the Klenteng Ling Gwan Kiong temple! But, you are free to drop a sum into the donation box. You need to take your shoes and try to keep silent when entering the inner sections. 

You can explore the temple free of cost and know more about the ancient history of the temple! There are some old turtles roaming freely on the tiled floor and around water-filled terracotta vessels which add to some of the unique things in the temple.
