How To Reach Manly Beach 

Manly is one of Sydney’s iconic Northern beaches of Australia and is easily accessible from anywhere in the city. 

By Car:

  • It is just a 30-minute drive from Sydney’s CBD, making it a convenient option for those who prefer to drive.

By Ferry:

  • You can take a fast 18-minute ride from Circular Quay. Or, 
  • You can also opt for a leisurely ferry ride that takes 40 minutes from Circular Quay.
  • All ferries arrive at Manly Wharf.

From Sydney Airport:

  • Take a direct train to Circular Quay from Sydney Airport which takes 20 minutes.
  • Then catch a ferry to Manly.
  • Total journey time would be about 40-60 minutes, depending on which ferry you choose.

Best Time To Visit Manly Beach

Visit Manly Beach between March to May or September to November. During these months, the weather in Sydney is pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities and exploration.

Best Things To Do At Manly Beach

1. Surfing

Surfing at Manly Beach is a must-do. The waves here are good and come regularly which suits beginners and pro surfers alike. If you’re new to surfing, there are lots of places to take lessons. Manly Surf School is the most trusted one which teaches everyone from beginners to experts.

2. Manly To Spit Bridge Walk

Another popular activity at Manly Beach is walking the trail from Manly to Spit Bridge. The walk is about 10 km long followed by the cliffs. The best part? It’s not hard —– anyone who’s reasonably fit can do it, including older people and kids.

Along the way, you’ll find several hidden beaches like Sandy Beach, Reef Beach, Clontarf Beach, Fisher Bay, and Forty Baskets. You’ll also see some interesting spots like Crater Cove and the Grotto Point Lighthouse.

3. Swimming

A great way to spend a summer evening at Manly Beach is to go for a bike ride. As you feel the cool breeze, you can explore some of the area’s hidden spots. During your one or two-hour bike ride, you can visit Manly Beach attractions like Sydney Harbour National Park, Little Manly Point, and the pretty Collins Flat Beach.
