Later in 1887, the site and houses were transformed and converted into a royal hunting lodge by Maharaja Thakur Sawai Madho Singh. In the early 20th century, it was expanded as per the design of Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob.
In 1931, Rambagh Palace Jaipur was added with royal suites and was made the principal residence of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, his queen Maharani Gayatri Devi, and their family.
The entire area of the palace and the landscaped garden are spread across an area of 47 acres.
