Although this place is not very popular among tourists, once you visit this exotic place you will realize so much it has to offer. Let us unveil why Rangat in Andaman is one of the best beaches in Andaman.

Top 5 Places to Explore in Rangat in Andaman

1. Dhani Nallah Mangrove Nature Walkway

This nature walkway stretches over a distance of about 713 meters, and is surrounded by mangrove linings on either side. This is the longest walkway in India. The walkway leads to the Dhani Nallah beach, which stretches for 56 kms along the bay and is an ideal ground for turtle-nesting (November-February).

Dhani Nallah gets its name from a seasonal creek (nallah) which runs through the area. Do remember that when in Rangat, you can also enjoy mangrove kayaking to have a lifetime experience.

How to reach Dhani Nallah: The walkway begins roughly 20 kms from Rangat in the village of Betapur. You can book a private cab to get to your destination.

2. Amkunj Beach

Rangat, where Amkunj Beach is located, had for many years remained overshadowed by more popular destinations like Havelock Island. However, this place gained its popularity because of its ecotourism and focus on conservation efforts. This beach is not ideal for swimming as the coastline is very rocky and full of dead corals.

On the beach you will be able to see live snails, oysters, crabs and other organisms walking around. This beach also provides eco-friendly amenities like eco-huts, sitting benches made from upcycled wood, log sofas, and nature trails, making it more accessible and comfortable for tourists.

How to reach Amkunj Beach: Amkunj beach is located at 8 kms from Rangat, hence you can take a private cab to reach this place. If you are traveling from Port Blair to Diglipur then too you can take a pause at this beach in Rangat.

3. Cutbert Bay Beach

Cutbert Bay Beach, situated in Rangat is a serene and captivating coastal stretch known for its unique charm and tranquil environment. As soon as you step into the beach, you will be mesmerized by the crystal clear turquoise waters.

This beach is famous for its pristine coral reefs and active marine life. One should not miss the opportunity of snorkeling when here and dive into the water to witness beautiful colorful fish, coral formations, and other marine species. The underwater world at Cutbert Bay Beach is heaven for underwater enthusiasts.

How to reach Cutbert Bay Beach: Reaching Cutbert Bay Beach is very easy from Port Blair. Rangat Island is at a distance of 170 kilometers by road and 90 kilometers by sea from Port Blair. You can easily enter here from Port Blair and by ferries from Havelock island, Long Island, and Neil Island.

4. Panchavati Hills and Waterfalls

Situated on the outskirts of Rangat in Andaman, this is a must visit place if you are visiting the Island. The waterfall cascades down from a height of 30 meters, and the sound of the gushing water can be heard from a distance.

Taking a dip into the chilling and refreshing waters is one of the best things to do in Andaman. The locals here believe the water to be sacred, and many visitors offer prayers and seek blessings. Hence, Panchavati Waterfalls is a unique blend of natural splendor and spiritual essence.

How to visit Panchavati Waterfalls: Panchavati Waterfalls can be reached via road from Rangat. Tourists can hire a taxi or take a local bus from Rangat town. It is approximately a 15-kilometre journey from Rangat to the waterfalls, with the last part of the journey potentially involving a trek through the forest.

5. Long Island

This lucky find is part of the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago that most of us think is limited to radhanagar beach, Neil Island and Havelock Island. Lalaji Bay and Merk Bay are two pristine beaches famed as a popular picnic spot here. This is a must-visit destination if you visit Rangat because of its serene beaches with some great snorkeling spots, nightlife, and stargazing.

How to reach Long Island: Even though Long Island is remotely located, it is pretty nicely connected to other parts of the islands. The most economical way is to first reach Rangat and from there take a Government ferry to Long Island. Another way is to reach directly from Port Blair to Long Island by hiring a private chartered boat. This could be fun, however, a little expensive. In case you are a group of around 8-10 people then the tour will be fun and the cost will get divided as well.

So, what is the wait for? Explore the beauty of Andaman & Nicobar Islands by visiting thrilling places, indulging in the water activities, or by planning your honeymoon.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
