History Of Salim Ali National Park 

Salim Ali National Park, also called City Forest National Park, opened in 1986. It was named after Salim Moizuddin Abdul Ali, an Indian bird expert nicknamed the “Birdman of India”. He was one of the first Indians to study birds closely, write about them, and make bird-watching popular in India.

The history of Salim Ali National Park took an interesting turn between 1998 and 2001. During this time, Farooq Abdullah, the then Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, turned the park into a golf course. They called it the Royal Springs Golf Course, Srinagar.
