Shashur Monastery: Blue Pine Monastery With Thangka Paintings

Shashur Monastery, also known as Shashur Gompa, is one of the oldest Buddhist teaching and religious gathering centres, dating back to the seventeenth century. The Shashur Monastery’s lamas belong to the Drukpa Buddhist sect.

The Shashur Monastery is famously known for its Thangka paintings, some of which stand more than fifteen feet tall, as well as wall murals depicting all 84 Buddhist deities. The Monastery’s doors are the main attraction since they are carved with Buddhist motifs and depict the rich architectural and cultural heritage of the Buddhist religion.
