Note: Even though the distance from the city center to Shillong Peak isn’t much, the time required to reach the spot may vary, depending upon traffic, checkpoint clearance, etc.

The most important thing every visitor should know is that Shillong Peak is located inside the Air Force Station and no one can enter the station without following the set procedure. You should keep in mind that there may be delays in entry and restrictions on personal belongings is always a possibility, so don’t bring anything that may become a cause for trouble.

Now that you know the area has too many restrictions, it’s obvious that you need to carry your identification proof with you. The ID proof will be checked at the entrance and the procedure may be explained by the personnel on duty. All rules and instructions need to be followed.

Laitlum Canyons are often considered an alternative option to Shillong Peak, so just in case you are not allowed entry here, due to security reasons, you can always go for Laitlum.
