blog-images
Did you know the Sydney Harbour Bridge, was nicknamed “The Coathanger” because it looks like one? It is a huge bridge in Australia that opened in 1932 and is the second-biggest bridge of its type in the world. A man named Dr. John Bradfield designed it, and it took 1,400 workers and eight years to build. While he got the idea from a bridge in New York called Hell Gate Bridge, he made the Sydney one much bigger. Today, it is a crucial landmark and a transportation link.

Like a friendly handshake, it brings together the north and south parts of the city. The bridge has been there for many important moments in Sydney’s history. It was also part of big events like the Walk for Reconciliation in 2000 and the World Pride celebration in 2023 when lots of people walked across it together.
