In a traveller-friendly update, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi has announced plans to launch an electronic visa (e-visa) service for Indian passport holders from January 1, 2025. Thailand e-visa for Indian travellers is designed to make the visa application process more convenient and efficient, offering applicants the flexibility of an offline payment method. This development is expected to boost tourism and ease travel between India and Thailand. 

Thailand’s E-Visa System In India: Key Updates 

  • The Royal Thai Embassy has confirmed that Indian passport holders will continue to enjoy the existing 60-day visa exemption for tourism and short business trips
  • Simultaneously, new e-visa facilities for Indians are being introduced, which require a non-refundable fee. 
  • Travellers interested in the e-visa option can obtain detailed offline payment information directly from the Thai Embassy and Consulate-General offices.

This dual approach offers Indian travellers ease in their travel plans to Thailand.

Thailand Visa Requirements For Indians: New Visa Facilities Revealed

  • Thailand has announced precise timelines and procedures for its new e-visa facilities for Indian passport holders. Applicants can expect a 14-day processing period from the moment their visa fee is received. All applications are to be submitted through Thailand’s official e-visa portal.
  • The embassy has set clear deadlines for the transition to the new system. Ordinary passport holders seeking visa processing through agencies must submit their applications by December 16, 2024.
  • For diplomatic and official passport holders, the application window extends slightly longer until December 24, 2024.

These updated e-visa facilities for Indians aim to streamline the travel documentation process providing a transparent approach. 

Overall, Thailand visa requirements for Indians now include multiple entry options. With a particular focus on its new Thailand’s e-visa system in India, Thailand shows its commitment to maintaining its status as a premier destination in Southeast Asia.
