As part of the latest Thailand travel advisory for Indian tourists, Thailand's Cabinet revised the visa-free entry system running since July 2024. The revised rules are pending Royal Gazette publication and will take effect only after that date is confirmed. Until then, current entry conditions remain in place.
Once the rules are live, Indians arriving in Thailand go through Visa on Arrival - completed at the immigration counter on landing, no prior application needed, with a 15-day stay per entry.
The fee is payable in Thai Baht cash only - Thai immigration does not accept other currencies, so exchanging before joining the queue is the practical move.
Those who prefer sorting it before departure can apply through the official Thailand e-visa for Indians portal - thaievisa.go.th, with stays of 30 days or more depending on the category approved.
Indian digital nomads and remote workers planning longer trips should look at the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) specifically - it allows stays of up to 180 days and has become the go-to option for long-stayers in 2026
The Thailand visa rules for Indian tourists shift toward a more structured entry system, tighter immigration monitoring, visitor safety, and long-term sustainable tourism are the stated priorities.
