You can roam around the Mall road, shop souvenirs and visit the Manu temple which is located in the middle of the road. The mall road offers ample choices for you to juggle with. The shops offer a variety of winter gear ranging from thick jackets to funky gloves. This is one of the best places for shopping in Manali. The food outlets also offer variety of cuisines, mainly Indian street food and Chinese. You can find the best restaurants here. Chill in Old Manali
One of the best places to hang out in Manali for someone who is on a solo or a backpacking trip, is Old Manali. Visit the Hidimba temple
Locally known as the Dhungari temple, Hidimba Devi temple is an ancient cave temple dedicated to the wife of Bhim, one of the five Pandava brothers. It is built on a rock which is believed to be in the image of Hidimba. The temple attracts not only religious people but also those who are in love with the nature. The setting of the temple is absolutely magical. Set amidst the background of cedar forests, the temple is located right on the laps of the nature. The architecture of the temple adds a cheery on top of the cake. Made with wood, it has a cone shaped roof thereby distinguishing it from the rest of the temples.
Take a stroll in Van Vihar
Another interesting thing to do on a Manali trip is to buy a Rs 30 ticket at the counter of Van Vihar and spend a good amount of time strolling in the lap of nature. Van Vihar is a national park covered densely with deodar trees providing shade all over the place. It has a well laid out path, with fun activities to indulge in. You can spend good quality time here. You can silently read a book at a quite spot, roam around the park, have a small picnic with your friends and family, enjoy boat riding or do nothing at all! Hop till Vashisth
More budget friendly and quiter, Vashisth is a small village few Kilometres from Old Manali. It is famous for its temple and hot spring along with much calmer and much quiter cafes. From yoga to ayurvedic treatments; vashisth is a quaint village attracting more tourists every year. If you have made it till Manali, then this village adds a bonus to your trip. It is also has the path that leads to the Jogni waterfalls.
