Just Imagine: 115 riders, all revving up their bikes and taking off for their journey to create the record for the 

most number of riders in an expedition to Umling La

– The World’s Highest Motorable Pass. Hold your breath, and get ready to get some goosebumps because we’re going to dive into this record-breaking journey at 19,020 feet.

The record-breaking journey started on 9th September in Leh, where the first day was completely dedicated to acclimatisation, briefings, medical checkups and an ice-breaking session. The actual adventure of this 

 started the next day with an orientation ride where the 115 riders went on a local sightseeing tour; the Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the Magnetic Hill and Sangam Point are just a few of the landmarks which were explored. 

This is not it; this record-breaking journey also took the riders to Nubra Valley via the Khardung La, which was previously known as the World’s Highest Pass before Umling La took the title. Words fall short when you talk about the Nubra Valley; just imagine yourself riding in the centre with mountains surrounding you and looking at you in all their glory. this scene was actually a reality for our riders. 

The day that everyone was waiting for finally came; on 14th September, the journey to Umling La, standing at a majestic height of 19,020 feet, began. Off-road patches, oxygen deficiency, and more did come as a hindrance towards the goal, but nothing could stop the team from achieving the record they had set their eyes on.

While committed to their attempt to achieve the record, the WanderOn team also stayed close to their commitment to providing community and offbeat experiences by having lunches in picnics alongside the Pangong Tso, which also gave the riders an opportunity to get to know each other better. The journey also took the riders through a few challenges, like riding on off-road terrains; though challenging, it is also notable that no injuries happened during the entire journey to Umling La.

No injuries here might sound like a normal thing that everyone tries to achieve in their daily lives, but no injuries in a terrain like Ladakh is a big thing.
