Wular Lake in Jammu and Kashmir, Spanning approximately 200 square kilometres, It is believed to have been formed by a glacial outburst or tectonic activity. History of Wular Lake records indicate that the lake was once much larger and played a significant role in the region’s ecosystem. This expansive lake is not only a crucial ecological asset but also a captivating destination for travellers seeking solace amidst stunning landscapes.
The lake lies between the towns of Sopur and Bandippore, in Sangrama, near Baramulla Road. Main source of water for Wular Lake is River Jhelum. One of the facts about Wular Lake is that this lake also has a small island in its centre called the ‘Zaina Lank’. This island was constructed by King Zainul-Abi-Din. Wular Lake is also said to be a remnant of Satisar Lake that existed in ancient times. The premises of this lake also form a popular sunset point.

By Road: To reach this destination, buses or cabs can be hired from Srinagar or from the Tourist Reception centre.
