9-Day Iceland Community Trip: Whales, Waterfalls and More

We will begin the day with a visit to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can witness the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Next, we will head to the Geysir Geothermal Area, where bubbling hot springs and erupting geysers create a spectacular natural display.

Watch the famous Strokkur Geyser erupt every few minutes, shooting hot water high into the air.

Later, we continue to the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall, where powerful glacial waters cascade into a deep canyon, offering breathtaking views and memorable photo opportunities.

We will proceed on a full-day South Iceland tour, covering some of the most dramatic landscapes in the country.

We will begin the day with a visit to Sólheimajökull Glacier, where we will witness impressive ice formations, rugged crevasses, and the raw beauty of Iceland’s glaciers up close.

Next, we will head to the stunning Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, where we will have the chance to walk behind the cascading water and enjoy a unique viewpoint.

Later, we will continue to Skógafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most powerful and iconic waterfalls, perfect for photographs.

As the day progresses, we will travel along the southern coastline to explore Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, famous for its volcanic sand, basalt columns, and crashing Atlantic waves.

We will also pass through the charming village of Vík and visit Dyrhólaey, a scenic viewpoint offering panoramic views of cliffs, rock arches, and the coastline.

After completing the sightseeing, return to your hotel in Hella and unwind.

After checking out from the hotel, we will proceed towards some of the most breathtaking glacial landscapes in the country.

We will first visit the spectacular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where we will see massive icebergs floating peacefully in crystal-clear waters after breaking off from the glacier.

Just across the road, we will head to the stunning Diamond Beach, where we will witness chunks of glacial ice resting on black volcanic sand, creating a truly mesmerising contrast and unforgettable photo moments.

Later, we will enjoy an exciting amphibian boat ride at the glacier lagoon, allowing us to get closer to the icebergs and learn about glacier movement and the surrounding environment.

After completing the sightseeing, we will continue our journey towards Höfn.

After checking out from the hotel, we will proceed for a rejuvenating visit to Vok Baths (entry subject to availability), where you will soak in naturally heated geothermal pools surrounded by serene Icelandic landscapes.

Following the baths, we will continue our drive towards Akureyri, enjoying a scenic 4-hour journey through Iceland’s diverse countryside.

En route, we will pass by Lake Mývatn, a volcanic wonderland known for its lava fields, craters, and geothermal activity, where you can take plenty of photos of the breathtaking views.

By evening, we will arrive in Akureyri.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, resting after the long drive.

We will drive to Húsavík, famously known as the whale-watching capital of Iceland.

Here, we will embark on a 3-hour whale-watching tour (subject to availability), where we will look out for humpback whales, minke whales, dolphins, and a variety of seabirds in their natural habitat.

After our whale-watching experience, we will visit Dettifoss Waterfall, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, where the roaring glacial waters create an awe-inspiring spectacle.

Later, we will stop at the beautiful Goðafoss Waterfall, also known as the “Waterfall of the Gods,” to admire its stunning cascades and capture memorable photographs.

Following the sightseeing, we will return to Akureyri.

The evening will be at leisure, giving you time to explore the town if you wish.

You can explore the town centre, walk along the colourful streets, visit local boutiques, enjoy a coffee or dessert at a cosy café, or take a peaceful walk along the harbour to soak in the fjord views.

After checking out from the hotel, we will drive towards Húsafell, enjoying scenic views of Iceland’s mountains, lava fields, and countryside along the way.

Upon arrival at Húsafell, we will experience the unique Into the Glacier tour (subject to availability).

We will explore man-made ice tunnels inside the glacier, walk through icy corridors, and learn about glacier formation and the surrounding landscape.

After completing the glacier experience, we will continue our drive to Reykjavik and check in at the hotel.

In the evening, you can go pub hopping in Reykjavik to experience the city’s vibrant nightlife (at your own expense).

You can also visit popular local pubs, enjoy Icelandic craft beers or cocktails, and soak in the lively atmosphere with locals and fellow travellers.

After an exciting evening, return to the hotel.

We will start with a 3-hour guided city tour of Reykjavik, where you will explore the heart of Iceland’s capital and discover its history, culture, and modern charm.

We will walk through the colourful streets of downtown Reykjavik, passing by iconic landmarks like Hallgrímskirkja Church, where you can admire the unique architecture and, if you wish, take optional photos from the tower.

We will also visit Harpa Concert Hall, a stunning glass building along the waterfront, and learn about its role in Iceland’s music and arts scene.

During the tour, we will walk along the scenic Reykjavik Harbour, witness the old fishing district, and explore local streets filled with cafés, boutiques, and murals.

After the city tour, we will proceed to the world-famous Blue Lagoon (Comfort Package, subject to availability).

We will relax in the geothermal waters, enjoy the soothing silica mud masks, and soak in the stunning lava field surroundings, a perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing.

After this rejuvenating experience, we will return to the hotel in Reykjavik.
