8 Days Ladakh Road Trip: Challenge yourself in Zanskar

Have your breakfast in the morning and get ready for the day.

Today, we will start our journey to Kargil and cross some famous locations on the way.

En route, we will also witness the rare phenomenon at the Magnetic Hill, where the gravity-defying phenomenon will leave you amazed.

Further, we will stop at the Sangam Point, where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet. Here, you can soak in the panoramic views and feel the fresh mountain air.

On the way, we will also make a stop at the beautiful town of Lamayuru, which is known for its moon-like landscape.

We will also be travelling to Lamayuru, situated at a height of 3510 m and known for its odd geographical formations and picturesque views of the village below.

Further, we will also pass 2 high-altitude passes - Fotu La [4108m] and Namika La [3700m].

Continue your road trip to Kargil and check-in to the hotel.

Wake up to a pleasant morning in Kargil and have your breakfast at the hotel.

Get ready to board your transfers as we hit the roads towards Padum - the capital of Zanskar Valley.

Experience the raw beauty of Ladakh as we pass through the magnificent Suru Valley and Pensi La.

We will then make a quick stop at Drang Drung Glacier Viewpoint- the second-largest glacier in the region.

By evening, you will reach Padum, where you will check-in to your hotel.

Wake up to a chilly morning amidst the scenic raw landscapes of Padum.

Have your breakfast at the hotel and get ready to explore the major landmarks around.

We will start the day by first visiting the Zangla Fort which is said to be built in the 10th century.

Later, we will visit the Stongdey Monastery and marvel at the stunning views of the Zanskar Valley below.

We will then conclude our sightseeing by visiting the stunning Bardan Monastery - a fortress-like monastery on a cliff overlooking the Tsarap River.

You can opt for a hike to one of the most remote monasteries, Phugtal Monastery, which is in Purne, a beautiful small village in Zanskar Valley.

Start your hike to Phugtal Monastery, also known as Phukthar Monastery, which is located inside remote caves.

To reach this monastery, we will cross the wooden bridges over the Tsarap River and hike through the rugged landscape.

After approximately 2 hours of hiking, you will reach the monastery.

You can spend some time exploring this monastery, soaking in the surrounding views, interacting with the monks, meditating, clicking pictures, etc. (Time Required: 1 hour approx)

Later, we will hike back to Purne (approx 2 hours).

You can explore Purne on your own for some time.

We will then return to Padum and call it a day after a long day of sightseeing and hiking.

Wake up in your hotel in Padum and soak in the breathtaking views of the Zanskar Valley.

Have your breakfast and get ready for the day.

Board your transfers to Jispa, a beautiful village located on the banks of the Bhaga River.

On the way, pass some towns of Zanskar Valley like Purne - located at the confluence of Tsarap and Kurgiak river, Table, Khi and Kurgiakh.

This is one of the most scenic road journeys as you spot the mighty Gonbo Rangjon mountain from afar and enjoy the thrill of driving towards it.

You will stop at the scenic small town of Gonbo Rangjon, which offers breathtaking views of the famous “God’s Mountain”.

Stare at this mighty beauty and marvel at its size.

After soaking in the stunning views, we will continue our journey to our next stop at Shinkhu La - a high mountain pass that acts as the natural border between Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.

Later, we will reach Darcha and join the Manali-Leh highway to continue our journey.

Reach Jispa by evening and check-in to your hotel.

You can spend the rest of your time at leisure or explore Jispa town on your own.

Today, we will start our day very early as we get ready to start our journey to Leh.

Check out of our hotels and get ready for a long journey ahead through some of stunning peaks, challenging hair pin bends and smoothest roads.

You will be having your breakfast at a stopover on the way.

En route, we will pass Darcha- a popular stopover for people travelling through the Leh-Manali Highway, after which we will pass Deepak Tal and Zingzing Bar.

We will then make a quick stop at Baralacha-La (4892 ft), and take a moment to admire the stunning Suraj Tal Lake- the 2nd highest lake in India.

Continue your journey towards Sarchu and gear up for some challenging roads ahead.

Next, we will experience the thrill of conquering the famous Gata Loops, which feature 21 hairpin bends at an elevation of 4669m.

Next, we cross Nakee-La, which is at an altitude of 4738 m.

Following this, you will cross Lachung-La at an altitude of 5065 m, surrounded by the beautiful landscape.

We will then make a quick stop for lunch at Pang.

Continue your journey through the Moore Plains- one of the smoothest roads built at an altitude of 4800 mts.

As we cross the highest motorable road on the Leh-Manali Highway, Tanglang-La (5328m), our journey will take us through Upshi and Karu.

After crossing these places, we will reach your final destination - Leh.

Once at Leh, we will check in to your hotel and call it a day.

You will have your delicious dinner and retire for the night.

Wake up to a pleasant morning in Leh and have your breakfast at the hotel.

We will then get ready to explore some of the local sightseeing spots in Leh

Our first stop on the way will be the Hall of Fame, a museum/ war memorial built in memory of the martyrs of the Indo-Pak War.

Further, we will be travelling to Shanti Stupa, a white domed stupa famous for its panoramic views of the Leh city.

Our next stop will be the stunning Leh Palace - an iconic fortress that served as a residence to the former kings and royal families.

You can also explore the Leh Market on your own and indulge in some shopping.

While at the market, you can also try out Ladakhi cuisine at the many cafes located here.

Later, head to your hotel in Leh and have your dinner.
