8-Day Leh Ladakh Family Trip: Explore 8 High-Altitide Scenic Lakes

Wake up in your hotel room in Leh and have a delicious breakfast.

Today, get ready for an exciting family trip to one of the highest motorable roads.

Board your transfers to begin your journey to the Nubra Valley.

Our first stop will be the iconic Khardung-La - one of the highest motorable roads in the world at a height of 5359 meters.

Continue the journey through the mesmerizing landscapes until we reach Diskit.

Here, we will stop at the Diskit Monastery, which is famous for its 106 feet of Maitreya Buddha statue.

Further, we will pass by the Shyok River to reach Nubra Valley, also known as Ldorma or the Valley of Flowers.

Upon reaching Nubra, head further to the Hunder Sand Dunes, famous for its unique desert landscapes.

You can enjoy some adventure activities with your kids and family members, like camel rides and ATV rides. (self-paid)

After a long day of sightseeing, head to your camps/ hotels and call it a day.

Wake up in Nubra Valley and get ready for an adventurous journey to the famous Pangong Tso.

We will be crossing the charming Agam and Shyok villages, both of which are extremely gorgeous.

Continue on your adventurous journey until we reach the famous Pangong Lake- a crystal clear blue lake with colour-changing properties.

Pangong Lake is about 4 km wide on average and at least 136 Km long and is located at an altitude of 4300 meters above sea level.

Spend some time around the lake with your loved ones, admiring the reflection of the surrounding mountains in the stunning blue lake.

We will then head to check in at our campsite near the lake and have a delicious dinner here.

Wake up to a beautiful morning in Pangong with the views of the stunning lake.

Have your breakfast together and get ready for an exciting trip to Hanle today.

We will be travelling to Hanle, famous for its Observatory, which is one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world.

We will be travelling along the Pangong Tso to pass Man and Merak - small villages on the way.

Next, we will pass Chushul, which is near the Indo-China border and known for the 1962 Indo-China War Memorial, built in honour of the martyrs of the war.

Along the way, we will stop at two less-travelled but beautiful lakes, Mirpal and Yaya Tso, with the Kaksang La Pass in between, which is another high-altitude Pass.

You can take a moment to soak in the views with your loved ones and click photos at these spots.

We will continue our journey along the banks of the Indus River to reach Mahe Bridge, another picturesque spot with a view of the river and mountains.

After that, we will travel until we reach Nyoma- a major town in the Chumathang region.

Here, we will make a stop and, if time permits, break for lunch.

Thereafter, we will reach Loma Bridge, a main connectivity linking various roads along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Finally, we will reach Hanle, a small, quiet village, famous for its high-altitude observatory.

We will be travelling to Karzok, a small village located on the shores of Tso Moriri Lake.

We will start our journey and continue until we reach Ryul Tso, a small, hidden lake with clear blue waters.

Continue on to another stunning lake, Chilling Tso, and return to Salsal La, another high-altitude mountain Pass.

Thereafter, crossing Chumur Village, we will continue further ahead, until we reach Charchang La, from where you will get the first glimpse of the breathtaking Tso Moriri.

We will then travel along the banks of Tso Moriri to reach its northern viewpoint and then finally reach Karzok.

Have your breakfast as you get ready for your final destination, Leh.

Today we will be travelling through some beautiful villages and valleys.

On our way, we will first explore Kyagar Tso, another stunning less less-travelled high-altitude lake.

Our first village on our route today will be the Sumdo Village, where the main road connecting to Leh starts.

Continue our journey, we will reach Puga Valley, which is known for its geothermal hot Springs.

We will make a quick stop here, and you and your loved ones can explore it for some time.

Further, we will pass Tso Kar - a high-altitude, fluctuating salt water lake.

Thereafter, continue on your road journey and pass some scenic towns of Upshi, Karu, and Thikshey.

Finally reach Leh in the evening.

Further, we will be riding to Shanti Stupa, a white domed stupa famous for its panoramic views of Leh city.

Soak in the stunning views along with your family, creating some lasting memories.

Our next stop will be the stunning Leh Palace - an iconic fortress that served as a residence to the former kings and royal families.

You can also explore the Leh Market with your family and indulge in some shopping.

While at the market, you can also try out Ladakhi cuisine at the many cafes located here.

Later, head to your hotel in Leh and have your dinner.
