A well-planned 6-day Meghalaya group journey with WanderOn is designed not just to cover the region’s most iconic landscapes, but to experience them together in a way that feels immersive, easy, and memorable. From misty hills and deep caves to crystal-clear rivers and living root bridges, every day unfolds with a sense of shared discovery.
Starting from Guwahati, the journey moves into the calm hill town of Shillong, with a scenic pause at Umiam Lake that sets the tone for what follows. As the route continues to Cherrapunjee, dramatic viewpoints like Laitlum Canyon, powerful waterfalls such as Nohkalikai, and natural wonders like Arwah Cave and Wei Sawdong Falls come together in a landscape that feels both vast and intimate.
The experience deepens with the Nongriat trek, where the Single and Double Decker Living Root Bridges become more than just a highlight - they become a shared achievement. Moving onward to Mawlynnong and the surreal waters of Dawki’s Umngot River, the journey balances adventure with moments of pure stillness.
The return brings quieter pauses and scenic reflections, but what stays with you is the rhythm of the group - strangers turning into stories, and a destination that feels richer when experienced together.

Itinerary

Day 1

Guwahati Arrival | Journey to Shillong | Umiam Lake View Point

Reach Guwahati (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport) by morning, preferably before 11:30 AM.

After arrival, freshen up and have breakfast, then begin your journey towards Shillong.

On the way, stop at Umiam Lake View Point and take in the calm water views surrounded by green hills.

By afternoon, reach Shillong, head to explore Shillong Market for shopping and local vibes.

Check into the hotel in the evening, relax, and unwind after the journey.

Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 2

Shillong to Cherrapunjee | Laitlum Canyon | Waterfalls & Caves

After breakfast, check out and start your journey towards Laitlum Grand Canyon.

Spend time enjoying the dramatic valley views before continuing your sightseeing.

Next, visit Wei Sawdong Falls, known for its multi-layered turquoise beauty.

Proceed to Arwah Cave and explore its natural limestone formations.

After lunch, continue your drive to Cherrapunjee.

On arrival, visit the iconic Nohkalikai Falls and witness its powerful drop and scenic surroundings.

Check in to the resort by evening and relax.

Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

Day 3

Single Root Bridge | Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek

After breakfast, depart for Tyrna Village, the starting point of your trek.

Begin your descent to the Single Root Bridge, surrounded by dense greenery and flowing streams.

Continue further to reach the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge, one of Meghalaya’s most unique natural wonders.

Complete the trek and climb back to Tyrna Village (approx. 3300 steps one way).

Return to Cherrapunjee by evening and rest after the long trek.

Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

Day 4

Mawsmai Caves | Mawlynnong Village | Transfer to Shnongpdeng (Dawki)

After breakfast, check out and visit Mawsmai Caves, known for their easy walk-through limestone formations.

Continue your journey to Mawlynnong Village, famously known as one of the cleanest villages in Asia.

After exploring the village, proceed towards Shnongpdeng (Dawki).

Arrive in the evening and check into your riverside camps.

Spend your evening by the crystal-clear Umngot River, also known as Dawki River, enjoying a bonfire and peaceful surroundings.

Overnight stay in Shnongpdeng.

Day 5

Water Sports | Phe-Phe Waterfall | Return to Shillong

Wake up to a peaceful riverside morning and enjoy breakfast by the crystal-clear water.

Spend time enjoying water sports activities in Dawki, including boating and other adventure experiences.

After lunch, begin your journey back towards Shillong.

En route, visit the beautiful Phe-Phe Waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery and natural charm.

Reach Shillong by evening and explore the local market if time permits.

Day 6

Umiam Lake | Departure from Guwahati

After breakfast, check out and head towards Umiam Lake for a final scenic stop.

Spend some relaxed time by the lake before continuing your journey back to Guwahati Airport.

Depart for your return journey with beautiful memories of Meghalaya’s waterfalls, caves, villages, and crystal-clear rivers.

Make sure to book your flight after 5:30 PM.

NOTE: The age limit of our group departures is 16 to 42 years due to the power packed itineraries that we provide to our travellers. We can customise trips for travellers beyond the mentioned age bracket.

NOTE: Stay in Shnongpedeng will be in Alpine/Dome Tents with common washroom.
