Overview & Highlights

  • Have you ever imagined luxury travel in Spiti Valley, where comfort is defined by ease within raw, high-altitude silence? This curated self-drive expedition begins from Chandigarh, gradually unfolding into the Himalayan landscape through Narkanda’s quiet elevation and onward into Kinnaur Valley.

  • The journey deepens through Kalpa’s open mountain views before reaching Kaza, where the terrain turns stark and elemental. Ancient monasteries and high villages like Komic and Hikkim expand the sense of scale, while Chandra Taal offers a pause of complete stillness, where sky and silence merge into one continuous experience.

  • It ends with the rare clarity that the highest luxury is not escape, but complete presence.

    Itinerary

    Day 1

Arrival in Chandigarh | A Measured Beginning

Arrive in Chandigarh, where wide boulevards and a structured pace set a composed start to your journey.

Check in to your hotel and take some time to settle in after arrival.

By late afternoon, collect your SUV and ease into the experience with a short drive through the city.

The movement remains light - an introduction to the vehicle and the road ahead, without rush.

Return by evening, with the day closing at an easy pace before the journey begins in earnest.

    Day 2

Chandigarh to Narkanda | Into the Hills

Begin the drive from Chandigarh as the landscape shifts from plains to the first folds of the Himalayas.

The route moves through winding roads and forested stretches, with views opening up as you gain elevation.

Pass through small hillside towns and quiet bends, where the pace naturally slows and the surroundings begin to take over.

By afternoon, arrive in Narkanda, set amidst orchards and mountain views that feel both open and still.

Check in and take time to unwind, letting the transition into the mountains settle in fully.

    Day 3

Narkanda to Chitkul | Into Kinnaur Valley

Early morning, begin the journey toward Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the India–China border.

The drive follows the Satluj River, cutting through the dramatic landscapes of Kinnaur Valley.

Roads narrow and deepen into the mountains, with changing terrain that keeps the journey engaging throughout.

By evening, arrive in Chitkul and check into your camps, surrounded by high-altitude stillness.

The day settles quietly, with the valley holding a sense of remoteness that feels both raw and complete.

    Day 4

Chitkul To Kalpa | Sunrise & Himalayan Transition

Wake up early to witness a quiet sunrise over Chitkul, one of the valley’s most serene moments.

Spend the morning exploring the village before departing for Kalpa by noon.

The journey winds through evolving Himalayan terrain, arriving in Kalpa by evening.

Check in to the hotel, unwind, and settle in for the night.

    Day 5

Kalpa To Kaza | Entering Spiti Valley

Early in the morning, begin the ascent into Spiti, where the landscape gradually sheds its softness and turns raw, vast, and elemental.

Enter through Sumdo, where the valley first reveals its stark beauty, and continue past Nako and Tabo, each holding centuries of stillness and faith carved into stone and wind.

Cross the dramatic Ka Loops as the terrain opens into Spiti’s high-altitude silence.

By evening, arrive in Kaza, check in, and settle into the remote and absolute valley.

    Day 6

Kaza | High Villages & Ancient Landscapes

Today, explore Spiti’s most iconic high-altitude circuit, beginning with Key Monastery, set above the vast, silent plains.

The journey continues across Chicham Bridge into the villages of Komic and Hikkim, among the highest inhabited settlements in the world.

End the day at Langza, walking through fossil-laden grounds that once lay beneath an ancient sea, before returning to Kaza.

    Day 7

Kaza To Chandra Taal | Into The Lake Of Stars

Leave Kaza and begin the drive toward Chandra Taal, watching Spiti slowly dissolve into softer, glacial terrain.

A stop at Losar, the valley’s last village, offers a brief pause before the landscape turns more lunar and open.

By evening, reach Chandra Taal, check into the camps, and settle in under a sky filled with stars and the Milky Way.

    Day 8

    Chandra Taal To Manali

After a night spent camping under the vast Chandra Taal sky, begin your journey from the lake.

The drive descends from stark, high-altitude terrain into greener Himalayan valleys, where rivers and forests slowly return to the landscape.

Arrive in Manali and check into your hotel before heading out for exploration.

Walk through Old Manali for a relaxed café crawl, moving through its easy, lived-in mountain rhythm.

    Day 9

    Manali to Chandigarh | Departure

Begin the with a quiet sunrise in Manali, the mountains holding their last moments of stillness.

As the day moves forward, begin your drive toward Chandigarh, retracing the journey through changing landscapes.
