6 Days Sri Lanka Cultural Trip: Ramayana & Heritage Trails

After breakfast, board your transfer from Dambulla for the Trincomalee day trip.

We’ll begin at Tirukoneshwaram Temple, a major Shiva temple perched on a cliff above the sea with roots going back over 2000 years.

It's one of the most sacred Hindu sites on the island and the clifftop setting makes it unlike any other temple on this Sri Lanka tour package.

Visit the famous Hot Water Wells of Trincomalee, naturally occurring geothermal springs where warm water rises from beneath the earth.

Later, head to Trincomalee Beach, one of Sri Lanka's cleanest and least crowded stretches of coastline, for some time by the sea.

After breakfast, begin your journey to Kandy, Sri Lanka's last royal capital and cultural heart.

Start your Kandy cultural tour with the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which is said to house a tooth relic of Lord Buddha himself.

Then, head to Peradeniya Botanical Garden, home to over 4,000 plant species, giant bamboo groves, and a famous royal palm avenue.

Next, explore Kandy Bazaar for local spices, handicrafts, and Ceylon tea.

You can walk around Kandy Lake, a man-made lake built by the last Kandyan king, sitting right at the centre of the city.

Stop at a batik printing workshop to see Sri Lanka's traditional fabric art being made by hand and browse finished pieces.

Later, we’ll visit the Gem Museum to learn about Sri Lanka's famous gemstone trade, including sapphires and rubies.

In the evening, attend a classical Kandyan dance show, a high-energy performance of Sri Lanka's traditional dance and drumming.

Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Kandy.

Enjoy a tasty breakfast and then check out of the hotel.

Begin your scenic drive into Sri Lanka’s misty hill country, Nuwara Eliya.

En route, we’ll visit Ramboda Hanuman Temple, believed to mark Hanuman’s search for Sita.

Next, stop at the beautiful Ramboda Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s highest falls, cascading through lush highlands.

We’ll continue through rolling tea plantations and visit a tea factory to see how the famous Ceylon tea is produced.

By evening, visit Sitha Amman Temple, a beautifully decorated shrine marking the site where Sita is believed to have been held during the Ramayana.

Also, explore the nearby Ashok Vatika, a deeply significant stop on any Ramayana trail in Sri Lanka.

After a full day of sightseeing, check into your hotel and rest.

Have breakfast and board your transfer to Colombo, Sri Lanka's energetic capital.

En route, visit Vibishana Temple, a unique shrine dedicated to Vibishana, the brother of Ravana who sided with Lord Rama.

Stop at a herbal garden to explore Sri Lanka's rich Ayurvedic plants and remedies that have been used across the island for centuries.

Arrive in Colombo, check in and set out for a half-day city exploration.

Visit Galle Face Green for oceanfront views and enjoy a drive through Fort’s colonial precinct.

Then, explore Pettah Market for its lively local shopping streets for local spices, textiles, and street-side bargains.

Continue to Independence Square for its iconic national monument and explore the boutique stores and stylish cafés of Cinnamon Gardens.

After sightseeing, get back to your hotel and relax.
