7 Days Sri Lanka Family Tour: Explore Sigiriya, Kandy & Bentota

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and get ready for your scenic Kandy day trip.

Start with a 1200-step hike to the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, at about 200 metres height.

Along the way, pass the famous Sigiriya frescoes and the Mirror Wall before reaching the summit ruins of King Kashyapa's ancient palace.

The views from the top over the jungle canopy and surrounding plains are worth every step of the climb.

Later, board your transfer to Kandy, Sri Lanka's last royal capital, and check in to your hotel.

In the evening, visit the Gem Museum to learn about Sri Lanka's position as one of the world's top producers of sapphires, rubies, and cat's eye gems.

Then, attend a classical Kandyan dance show, a centuries-old performance of traditional Sri Lankan dance, drumming, and fire acts.

After a full day of exploration, get back to your hotel and relax.

After breakfast, begin the day with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, believed to house a tooth of Lord Buddha.

Then, head to Peradeniya Botanical Garden to explore its 4,000 plant species, a famous orchid house, and a royal palm avenue.

Later, board your transfer to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka's cool and misty hill station.

En route, stop at Ramboda Hanuman Temple, a significant Ramayana-era shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman set against green hillside scenery.

Visit Ramboda Falls, one of Sri Lanka's tallest waterfalls, dropping through thick tropical greenery into the valley.

Stop at a tea plantation and factory to see how Ceylon tea is grown, plucked, and processed.

In Nuwara Eliya, relax by Gregory Lake, a colonial-era lake in the heart of the hill station, popular for paddle boating and lakeside walks.

Later, check in to your hotel and have some rest.

Begin your Nuwara Eliya tour with Seetha Amman Temple, a beautiful Ramayana-era shrine, where Sita is believed to have been held captive.

Alternatively, you can visit Hakgala Botanical Garden, built around the ruins of Ashok Vatika from the Ramayana.

You can explore rare orchids, roses, and tree ferns at 1,700 metres above sea level.

Later, take your transfer to Bentota, Sri Lanka's most popular beach destination for travelers.

Arrive in Bentota, check in to your hotel, and spend the evening relaxing at leisure.

You may take a slow walk along the beach, sit by the water, or simply unwind.

After breakfast, we’ll head to a turtle hatchery on Bentota's coast.

You’ll get to witness endangered sea turtles which are protected, hatched, and released back into the ocean here.

Alternatively, visit Madu River for a scenic boat ride through one of Sri Lanka's most biodiverse river ecosystems.

Enjoy riding through mangrove islands, cinnamon gardens, and fish therapy stops along the way.

Later, you can spend the afternoon at leisure trying water sports like jet skiing, banana boat rides, windsurfing, etc.

As the day winds down, catch a stunning sunset over the Indian Ocean together.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and board your transfer to Colombo, Sri Lanka's bustling capital city.

Spend the day on a Colombo city tour covering Galle Face Green, the colonial-era Colombo Fort area, the National Museum, and the vibrant Pettah market district.

Head to the shopping areas for Ceylon tea, local spices, batik fabric, gemstones, and other Sri Lankan souvenirs to carry home.

You can also explore some of Colombo's newer waterfront spots and café streets for a relaxed evening together.
