Unlike Rajasthan's desert cities, Udaipur is built around a network of lakes and surrounded by the Aravalli Hills. The combination of royal palaces, waterfront ghats, old-city lanes, and a slower pace gives it a completely different character from Jaipur or Jodhpur.
