Balsamand Lake History

Balsamand Lake is a man-made lake from the 13th century! A ruler named Balak Rao Parihar built it. Later, in the 19th century, Maharaja Jaswant Singh constructed a beautiful garden around the lake. The garden is very big, covering 200 acres. It is a great place for people who love nature.

At first, the lake was made to give water to nearby villages. But over time, people used it as a leisure spot. The lake is 15 metres deep and covers 1 square kilometre. You can enjoy boat rides on the calm water. A famous designer named Henry Vaughan Lanchester designed the garden.
