Ujjain, one of the best places to visit in Madhya Pradesh is an ancient city situated on the eastern bank of the Shipra River in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, is one of the most important pilgrimage centres for Hindus. It is renowned for its spiritual heritage, ancient temples, and vibrant festivals. Among its many temples, the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple stands out as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India dedicated to Lord Shiva, making it a significant site for devotees.

When you’re planning a trip to Ujjain, it’s important to think about the best time to fully experience its spiritual and cultural richness. Let’s find out when is the best time to visit Ujjain.

Winter transforms Ujjain into a mesmerising wonderland from October to March. The city is adorned with a moderate and pleasant climate during these months, providing an ideal setting for immersing oneself in the city’s rich cultural heritage and partaking in its numerous religious festivals.

2. Visiting Ujjain in Summer (April to June)

During the summer in Ujjain, from April to June, it gets very hot, often above 40°C. The high temperatures make outdoor activities and temple visits uncomfortable. However, this time also includes the famous Simhastha Kumbh Mela, which happens every 12 years and is one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. Despite the heat, millions of pilgrims go to Ujjain to take a holy dip in the Shipra River and seek blessings at the Mahakaleshwar Temple.

3. Visiting Ujjain in Monsoon (July to September)

The monsoon season, from July to September, brings moderate to heavy rainfall to Ujjain. The landscape becomes lush and green, providing a refreshing change from the summer heat. While the rains can disrupt travel plans and outdoor activities, the monsoon season has its own charm, with fewer crowds and a serene atmosphere.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
