According to legend, In the late 18th century, during a conflict in Vietnam, a brave young man named Le Sy Triet left his home to join the army and he also left his lover Ly Thi Thien Huong. Ly Thi Thien Huong was a beautiful girl with lovely tanned skin who remained faithful to him.

Sadly, she was forced to marry a powerful man in her village. She was heartbroken and to protect her virginity she jumped off the mountain and died. To honor her memory, people built a temple on the mountain and renamed it Ba Den Mountain.
