Bollywood Travel Movies: Lights, Camera Explore

Believe it or not, Bollywood has impacted Indians and Indian culture more than we realise. From imitating Salman’s walk to getting Krish’s Mask to setting standards of love like King Khan, we have been there and done that.

However, some Bollywood travel movies have also awakened the inner travellers in us, inspiring us to pack our bags and take the journey into the unknown. Quiet relatable, right?

We may not understand how it works, but cinema has always had a great impact on our lives, which also gave birth to TV Tourism, where people see someplace in the movies or a TV series they watched, and some destinations made their way into their heart, so now they want to explore it all.

Now, if you feel this is absurd, think about it: how often have your friends and family told you that they saw a place in a movie and would love to go there one day? So you see, that is how these Hollywood and Bollywood travel movies impact us, and we may not have a clue about it.

1. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayege is an all-time favourite movie of Indians, which is evident from the fact that the Maratha Mandir theatres are still screening the movie even 28 years after its release in 1995.

The movie starts with a train journey in Switzerland, and you will see the stunning sights of Switzerland and London. The snow-capped peaks, where some of the scenes were shot, remain a major tourist attraction simply because of DDLJ. There was a significant increase in the number of people travelling from India to Switzerland, opening a revenue stream for the operator Rail Europe. As per reports, 40% of the revenue to the company comes from the Indians travelling to Europe.

By the end of it, the movie shows parts of Punjab, rekindling your wanderlust.

This romantic movie is the epitome of love. It revolves around a lot of train journeys, even at the end where Kajol runs to catch the train with SRK extending his hands towards her, making it an iconic scene in the history of Indian cinema.
