Back then, Al Tayer used to be a pearl diver and a fisherman. He lived with other fishermen. At this point, he made a decision to open a restaurant specially for fishermen. Initially, the restaurant began with just a few tables and a basic setup to serve fishermen and tourists who loved fresh seafood. At the beginning of Bu Qtair restaurant, it was known by only locals but as Dubai became famous more people discovered the restaurant. 

The menu of Bu Qtair is very simple. You can only get fish and shrimp which are marinated in spice and then deep fried and if customers want saucy fish and shrimp they will serve fish and shrimp curries with porotta and rice.
