You know what's funny about Chandanwari in Kashmir? Most people only hear about it because it's where the Amarnath pilgrimage starts. But trust us, this place is worth visiting even if you're not planning any religious trip. It's just 16 kilometres from Pahalgam, and the drive itself is pretty nice.
The locals will tell you the name comes from all the sandalwood trees that used to be here. We're not sure how many are left now, but the place still has this peaceful vibe that makes you want to sit down and just breathe for a while.
Here's the best part - there's snow here pretty much all year round. In the middle of summer, when you're sweating buckets everywhere else, you can have a snowball fight here. We've seen families come here thinking it's just another mountain spot, and then the kids go absolutely crazy when they see the snow.
The mountain views are something else. You know those postcard pictures of Kashmir? Yeah, this is probably where they took some of them. When you're planning places to visit in Kashmir, don't skip this one just because it sounds remote.
Getting there is half the fun anyway. Our Kashmir Tour Packages usually include Chandanwari because, honestly, it would be a shame if you missed it during your Kashmir trip.
