Looking at the story of legends and the locals of the Colaba region, the Colaba Causeway was built by the East India Company under the reign of Sir Robert Grant, who was the Governor of Bombay, now Mumbai, in the year 1838 which used a small part of Old Women’s Island as a part of their construction.
Due to the lower tides, the Colaba region was accessible with the help of Colaba Causeway Mumbai until 1839; however, the Colaba Causeway widened in 1863. Earlier, the causeway was used for Horse-drawn tram-cars (Tanga) for Britisher’s offices on the west side of the causeway. Today, the area is known for its wide range of amusements in various forms, from shopping to dining and much more.
