On Monday, 25th August 2025 , the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation(DMRC) announced Delhi Metro fare hike, effective from 25th August. The fare revision may impact the commuters who travel every day via the metro.
The DMRC has announced revised passenger fares for the first time in years, with fare hikes ranging from ₹1 to ₹4 depending on the distance that will be covered. The Airport Express Line, on the other hand, has also seen a hike of ₹5.
According to the new structure, the minimum fares on normal days will go up from ₹10 to ₹11 for journeys that go up to 2 km, and for trips beyond 32 km, the fares will be around ₹64, which was initially ₹60.
For mid-range journeys, fares between 12-21 km have been raised from ₹40 to ₹43; on the other hand, 21km-32 km will now cost around ₹52, which was initially ₹50.
Delhi Metro fare revision also applies to Sundays and national holidays. The trips beyond 32km on such days, which used to cost ₹50, will now cost ₹54, and for the distance between 12-21 km slab, the fares have increased from ₹30 to ₹32.
The DMRC has described Delhi Metro minimum fare revision, calling it minimal while also stating that the step was a crucial move to balance operational costs, while continuing to provide public transport that’s affordable and convenient.
The Delhi Metro Fare Hike news has been implemented from Monday onwards. The smart card users, on the other hand, will continue to get a 10% discount along with an additional 10% rebate during off-peak hours.
