The Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve, is a top attraction for visitors, especially among nature lovers on a trip to Kashmir. It offers the opportunity to observe wildlife thriving in chilly environments. Situated close to Srinagar, it’s about 48 km away.

Best Time To Visit Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary

You can explore the area all year round. The best time to visit Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary is between March and September. This time of year is when the flowers are at their peak. 

It’s also the perfect opportunity to admire the beauty of the mountains and observe wild animals up close. For those interested in seeing mammals, March is the optimal month, while April and May are the best times for birdwatchers.

How To Reach Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary?

Air: The closest airport is Srinagar Airport, and from there, you can take a direct cab/taxi to the reserve. Srinagar airport is easily accessible to major Indian cities.

Rail: The closest railway station is Jammu Tawi. You can either hire a cab/taxi or bus to get to the Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve.

Road: To reach the Gulmarg biosphere reserve, you must first travel to Srinagar. Once in Srinagar, proceed to Gulmarg by following Tangmarg. Alternatively, you can arrange for a taxi in Srinagar to take you directly to the reserve.

Admission to the reserve is complimentary, allowing visitors to visit at any time.
