Attractions Near Uluwatu Cliff In Bali

1. Uluwatu Temple

blog-images
If you wish to experience the true slice of the Bali Culture then do not miss the opportunity to visit one of the six key temples of Bali, Uluwatu temple, and the most popular tourist destination in Bali. The temple is nearest to the Karang Boma cliff.  This temple has a fascinating history. According to inscriptions on the wall of the temple, Uluwatu Temple was founded by Mpu Kuturan, a Majapahit monk who is also responsible for the creation of numerous other important temples in Bali.

According to the mythology of Balinese Hindu Brahma, Shiv, and Vishnu, the three powers merge here. As a result of this belief, the Uluwatu Temple is dedicated to Siva Rudra, the Balinese Hindu god of all elements and aspects of life. It is also believed that this temple protects the island from all the evils that seek an evil eye on it.

The Uluwatu Temple is also the home of hundreds of macaque monkeys. The monkeys within the premises are quite mischievous and they steal valuables from the tourists like mobiles, cameras, and spectacles. They won’t return the valuables until and unless you treat them with fruits, nuts, and even candies. So be aware and keep your valuables safe and sound.

The Kecak Dance performance is not to be missed at the temple premises. The dance is performed at the backdrop of sunset and is an excellent opportunity to witness the culture of Bali. Through their dance, they narrate the epic Ramayana. What makes the Kecak Dance unusual is its unique vocal routine which makes this dance form the most unique experience in Bali. Male performers form a kind of choir, which sits in a circle, and they chant the words “cak-cak-cak” over and over to create an almost hypnotic rhythm. As the sun sets the dance transforms into a fire dance and the dancers begin to dance across burning coal embers.

An important tip when visiting the temple is not to visit the restricted areas of the temples and the areas where photography is prohibited also do follow the dress code and maintain the dignity of the place.

2. Suluban Beach

blog-images
Suluban Beach, also recognized as the blue water beach, is one of the most spectacular beaches of Uluwatu. This beach is a surfer’s paradise and is the best place to surf in Bali. The beach is situated on the southwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula in Uluwatu South Bali. Suluban (Mesulub) means “to bow down” in Balinese because getting to this beach requires crawling and even bending down through a very tight tunnel and getting your feet wet. Suluban is remote, with few tourists, and is popular among surfers and photographers since most people are not familiar with this beach due to its hidden entry.

The beach is the perfect place for surreal sunrise and sunsets. Although the place is ideal for sunsets, after reading the details about its gorgeous sunsets over the internet, this place gets crowded. It is better to witness the sunrise in peace.

The best thing to do here is to engage in a shopping spree. Shopping in Bali is a shopper’s delight and tourists can buy some of the most trendy and beach-friendly clothing and dresses. You can also visit the local shops near Suluban Beach to pick out some beautiful pieces of local artwork, junk jewellery, souvenirs, gift items, and much more.

3. Balangan Beach

blog-images
There is so much to love about this beach. It’s just not the Balangan viewpoint that attracts the tourist’s attention to the beach but it is also the most picturesque spot in Uluwatu and an ultimate and hidden beach in Bali. This is the best place in Bali to learn surfing. You can just spend hours lazing on the beach and eating from the local shops and still just can’t get bored of it. Balangan Beach has so much to offer with the less crowded, relaxed atmosphere and chill vibes.

Balangan Beach, known for its beautiful white sandy shoreline and towering cliffs, certainly lives up to the region’s high reputation. The Balangan viewpoint is most popular among wedding photographers, Instagrammers, models, and visitors. So it is completely recommended to visit the beach in the morning or in the afternoon when you can have the place to yourself and feel like heaven.

The beach is surrounded by some of the best and uptown cafes and restaurants to lavish on the local and authentic Indonesian dishes.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
