History of INS Khukri Memorial

The captain of the ship Mahendra Nath Mulla was commanding the ship at the time and because of Captain Mulla and his brave crew’s heroic act exemplifies the unwavering spirit and indomitable courage that embodies the proud traditions of the Indian Navy. 

Inaugurated on December 15, 1999, the INS Khukri Memorial stands atop the hillock overlooking Chakratirth Beach, serving as a replica of the esteemed INS Khukri Naval Ship.
