The deadly fire mishap started at night with the entire Maharani Temple Gulmarg Fire leaving the temple into ashes, the Maharani Temple in Gulmarg is an important religious site and it is also a popular place for most of the pilgrims who visit the valley.
It has been reported that the fire accident in the Maharani Temple started around 3:45 AM which occurred on June 5. The action was taken immediately by the local fire service and the police who responded quickly but failed to save the Maharani Gulmarg Temple Fire.
The temple burned down completely because it was made entirely of wood, which made the fire worse. Authorities are now investigating to find out what caused this terrible fire.
Originally called Mohineshwar Shivalaya or Rani Temple, Maharani Temple became famous after appearing in the Bollywood movie Aap Ki Kasam. It was built in 1915 by Mohini Bai Sisodia, the wife of Maharaja Hari Singh. The temple was managed by the former royal family and run by the Dharmarth Trust.
In 2021, the Indian Army worked with local communities to restore this 106-year-old temple. They not only renovated the temple but also redesigned the pathways leading to it, bringing new life to the sacred site. The temple was then reopened to the public, allowing devotees to reconnect with their spiritual roots.
The temple’s caretaker talked about how important community service in Gulmarg is and hoped the temple would be restored to its former glory. However, those hopes were destroyed when the temple burned down early Wednesday morning. The community still wishes for the temple to be rebuilt, and investigations are ongoing to find out what caused the fire.
After this tragic incident of the Gulmarg Temple Fire, the loss is felt deeply. It’s not just the destruction of a historic building but also an emotional and spiritual blow to the local community and devotees. The memory of Maharani Temple lives on in the hearts of the devotees.
