It is also called Amer Fort and it holds a UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The fort is located on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. 2. City Palace

Amongst the places to visit in Jaipur, City Palace is amongst popular Jaipur forts and palaces, known for its stunning architecture blending Mughal and Rajasthani styles, and its historical significance as the former residence of the royal family of Jaipur. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The palace complex provides a view of museums, showcasing the rich history of the Royal family, including the royal costumes, weapons, and other artefacts which were part of the royal lifestyle.

3. Hawa Mahal

Another popular places to visit in Jaipur is Hawa Mahal, also called as the “Palace of Winds”, is popular for its unique architecture, particularly its intricate honeycomb-like facade with numerous windows (jharokas), and its exceptional ventilation. Locals say that the building is designed in the shape of Lord Krishna’s crown, therefore it is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Legends say that it is haunted due to stories surrounding the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia, whose resting place was disturbed during the fort’s construction.

5. Jaigarh Fort

Situated on a raised mass of land, the fort stands as a testament to architectural brilliance of the Rajput rulers. Built in 1726, the fort is also known as the ‘Fort of Victory’. Jaigarh’s main attraction is the massive cannon known as Jaivaan, which weighs 50 tons and requires 100 kg of gunpowder combined with cannonballs weighing 50 kg to be fired.

Jal Mahal is famous for its unique architectural design and picturesque location in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. It is the oldest museum of the state and functions as the state museum of Rajasthan.
