Yakten, a peaceful village in East Sikkim, has officially become India’s first digital nomad village. This unique project is designed for remote workers, freelancers, and digital entrepreneurs who want to work while enjoying nature. The idea is to help people find a better balance between work and life in this overall chaotic set-up.

What is the Sikkim Digital Nomad Village?

The Sikkim Digital Nomad Village is a new initiative by the Sikkim government with help from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It offers fast internet, eco-friendly homestays, and modern co-working spaces. The goal is to support sustainable tourism, help the local community, and create chances for people from different cultures to connect and learn from each other.

Located in the green hills of East Sikkim, Yakten Digital Nomad Village is perfect for those who want to escape busy city life without losing access to technology or comfort. Visitors can work in calm, well-equipped spaces during the day and enjoy local culture and nature in the evening.

Why Yakten Digital Nomad Village is Special?

The project encourages visitors to stay longer, which is good for both the guests and the local people. Guests enjoy a more relaxed and meaningful experience, while the local economy benefits from steady tourism. Through workshops and cultural activities, both locals and digital nomads can share knowledge, skills, and traditions.

The digital nomad village in India is designed to be both modern and eco-friendly. Homestays are built with care for the environment, and every part of the project respects local customs and natural beauty.

A Smart and Sustainable Choice

The idea of a digital nomad village in India became more popular after the COVID-19 pandemic, when more people started working from home. Seeing this trend, the Sikkim government turned Yakten into a model village where technology and nature work together.

This plan fits well with India’s goals for sustainable development. It shows how rural places can use technology to grow their economy while keeping their culture and environment safe. The Sikkim Digital Nomad Village proves that smart planning can help both people and the planet.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.

The place was very beautiful and the quality of service was top-notch, the itinerary was very good and the quality of transportation and stays were very good. Had an awesome time there and made some good friends as well. Lastly, our trip captains Priyasha and Rachit managed the entire trip very well and were so fun and made our trip an experience worth remembering.
