Take a stroll at a place where the atmosphere is really peaceful and the only sound you will hear would be the small bells and fluttering of yellow Buddhist flags. It is also known as the Phra Puttamingmongkol Akenakkiri Buddha and was built in 2004 and is 25 meters across at the base.

Also, there is a smaller Buddha statue next to the Phuket Big Buddha, golden in color. But, it is actually made of 20 tonnes of brass and there are also several much smaller statues of Buddha and of revered monks.

Overall, around 1000 people visit the Big Buddha Phuket in a day and many donate money for the maintenance and to write messages on the purchased items for good luck and in the good memory of passed-away loved ones.

The accurate Phuket Big Buddha Location is Wat Kitthi Sangkharam, Karon, Meaung, Phuket, Thailand.

Known for: It is mainly known for its spiritual significance and the stunning views that it provides to visitors and travelers.

Timings: 10 AM - 5:30 PM, all days of the week

Entry fee: No entry fee, but if you want to explore the museum and exhibition halls which is beneath the statue, there is a fee of HKD 78 for adults and HKD 39 for children.

Tips: You should wear your most comfortable shoes as you need to climb up 268 steps to reach the statue.

Required time: You need to allocate 2-3 hours to fully explore the Big Buddha Phuket.

Best Time to Visit Big Buddha Phuket

The best time to visit the Big Buddha Phuket is in the early morning when there are very less crowds and the weather tends to be cooler.

How to Reach Phuket Big Buddha?

This main attraction is accessible by the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, which also offers the best views of Lantau Island. You can even take a bus or taxi from Tung Chung Town Center.

Phuket Big Buddha is located on Nakkerd Hill in Chalong and can be reached by different modes of transport. So, Visiting Big Buddha Phuket can be done through.

  1. By Car or Taxi – The easiest way is to take a taxi or rent a car. It’s about a 30-40 minute drive from Patong, Kata, or Karon Beach.
  2. By Tuk-Tuk – You can hire a tuk-tuk for a fun and local experience. Make sure to agree on the price before starting the trip.
  3. By Motorbike – Renting a motorbike is a budget-friendly option, but the road up the hill is steep, so drive carefully.
  4. By Tour Package – Many travel agencies offer guided tours that include transportation and additional sightseeing spots.

Once you arrive, you’ll need to walk a short distance up the hill to reach the statue and enjoy the breathtaking views of Phuket.

The massive structure belongs wholly to the funds of the people. There is a hall near the base of the Phuket Big Buddha which displays the project’s history, and some great Buddhist teachings as well. So, there are many donation boxes put here for the people so that they can maintain it.
