History Of Thusharagiri Waterfalls Tourism

blog-images
Thusharagiri is a newer tourist spot compared to other famous places in Kerala. It only became popular with visitors in the last few decades. This happened because Kerala’s government worked hard to promote nature tourism and made it easier for people to reach such beautiful places.

Before this, only local people, serious hikers, and nature lovers knew about the Thusharagiri  Waterfalls trek. Now, more people are coming here to do exciting activities like hiking, rock climbing, and bird watching. Visitors want their trips to be both relaxing and thrilling. Also, as people become more health-conscious during their vacations, they look for places where they can stay active while enjoying nature.

Kerala’s Tourism Department built facilities that help tourists visit safely while making sure tourism doesn’t harm the Thusharagiri’s natural beauty. Thusharagiri is home to perfect hiking paths and beautiful natural surroundings.

Trekking To Thusharagiri Waterfalls, Wayanad

Start your Thusharagiri Waterfalls trek adventure in this beautiful place called Kozhikode, situated in the Western Ghats mountains. Trekking to Thusharagiri waterfalls is a must-do activity as it’s famous for its stunning waterfalls located about 50 km from Kozhikode city. The special thing about this place is that it actually has three different waterfalls, but you need to trek to see them all.

The name Thusharagiri means “snowcapped mountains”. Two water streams coming from the Western Ghats join together here and form the Chalippuzha River. This river then splits into three waterfalls, and when the water falls, it creates a misty spray that looks like snow. That’s why it’s called Thusharagiri. The tallest waterfall of the three is called Thenpara Fall, which drops from a height of 75 metres. While you can easily reach the first waterfall, you need to hike through the thick forest to see the other two. If you want to find where the stream begins, you can trek 5 kilometres upstream. Once you get there, you can enjoy swimming in the cool water.

The Thusharagiri trekking in the early morning through the forest to reach these waterfalls is totally worth it. Deep in the forest, you will find even more beautiful waterfalls. These include Eerattumukku, Mazhavil Chattam, and the hidden treasure called Thumpithullum Para Waterfall.

  • Thusharagiri Waterfall Height: 75 metres
  • Ideal Duration Of Thusharagiri Waterfalls Trek: Half a day
  • Difficulty Level: Moderate to Hard

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
