The name Thusharagiri means “snowcapped mountains”. Two water streams coming from the Western Ghats join together here and form the Chalippuzha River. This river then splits into three waterfalls, and when the water falls, it creates a misty spray that looks like snow. That’s why it’s called Thusharagiri. The tallest waterfall of the three is called Thenpara Fall, which drops from a height of 75 metres. While you can easily reach the first waterfall, you need to hike through the thick forest to see the other two. If you want to find where the stream begins, you can trek 5 kilometres upstream. Once you get there, you can enjoy swimming in the cool water.
The Thusharagiri trekking in the early morning through the forest to reach these waterfalls is totally worth it. Deep in the forest, you will find even more beautiful waterfalls. These include Eerattumukku, Mazhavil Chattam, and the hidden treasure called Thumpithullum Para Waterfall.
