While not the biggest temple in Bali, it is undoubtedly one of the most photographed and visited spiritual sites on the island.
Ulundanu Bali is a mesmerising water temple that serves the entire outflow region in the Bedgul area. The mountains surrounding it all around make this a great spot for tourists and photographers. It is known as the Lake of Holy Mountain because of the high fertility levels in the area and the Dewi Danu, the Balinese goddess of the lakes, water, and river is worshipped here.
Also, there is a statue of Lord Buddha here which makes Ulundanu Bali a more popular attraction for everyone. Sometimes, you will also hear some people calling it the “floating temple” since it appears to be floating when the river rises.
So, Ulun Danu Temple history began during the reign of the Mengwi kingdom and Ulundanu Bali was built in the 17th century. But, later it was destroyed by the volcanic eruptions that burnt down the entire village. But, then Ulundanu Bali was reconstructed by the ruler on higher grounds with the leftover pieces. Now, it is known to be one of the major landmarks of Bali!
