We know Kashmir gets talked about a lot, but honestly, you haven't seen anything until you've stood next to one of these waterfalls. The spray hits your face, and you just think - wow, this is real.

You'll bump into waterfalls all over the place up there. Some are huge - like, you hear them before you even see them. Others are tucked away where nobody goes, and suddenly you're alone with this beautiful rushing water. It's all coming down from the snow up top, so it's clean and cold as anything.

Look, we're not going to lie - you'll have to walk to get to most of these spots. But it's not some crazy mountain climbing thing. Just regular walking, and when you get there, you'll be glad you made the effort. Go sometime between April and August if you can - that's when there's actually water flowing.

Thing is, once you start looking around Kashmir, you realise the waterfalls are just the start. There are lakes, mountains, and all sorts of stuff. We keep finding new places to visit in Kashmir every time we go back.

If you want to check it all out without the headache of planning everything, our Kashmir Tour Packages will sort you out. So, come, let’s explore the top waterfalls in Kashmir.

Location: Sedew - Aharbal Rd, Aharbal, Forest Block, Jammu and Kashmir 192303

Best Time to Visit: May to October

Aharbal Waterfall is the most popular among all waterfalls in Kashmir. It's often called the Niagara of India due to its strong flow and dramatic drop. The waterfall is formed by the Veshaw River and plunges around 25 meters down a gorge.

Surrounded by pine forests and mountains, it’s a great picnic spot. It’s also easy to reach - just 70 km from Srinagar. Many people believe Aharbal is the best waterfall in Kashmir, especially for those looking for beauty and easy access.

2. Noori Chamb - A Royal Waterfall in Poonch

blog-images

Location: JC59+C76, Mughal Road, Chandimarh, Sailan, Jammu and Kashmir 185102

Best Time to Visit: April to November

Noori Chamb is one of the most enchanting waterfalls in Jammu and Kashmir. The waterfall is named after Empress Noor Jahan, the wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, who is said to have bathed under this Kashmir waterfall during their travels.

The water here falls from a height of around 75 feet, forming a natural pool at the bottom. The area around the waterfall is lush and green, with a peaceful atmosphere that makes it perfect for relaxation. Noori Chamb is considered by many as the best waterfall in Kashmir when it comes to beauty and history combined.

3. Sinthan Top Waterfall - Hidden Beauty Near Anantnag

blog-images

Location: Near Sinthan Top, Anantnag District

Best Time to Visit: June to September

While Sinthan Top is famous for its high-altitude mountain pass, very few people know about the lovely Kashmir waterfall located nearby. On the way to Sinthan Top, several small waterfalls can be seen cascading down the hills, with the most prominent one offering a peaceful and scenic stop for travellers.

The road to Sinthan Top itself is full of scenic beauty, with meadows, pine forests, and views of the Pir Panjal range. The waterfall here may not be the biggest waterfall in Kashmir, but it surely is one of the most peaceful. With its historic charm and peaceful setting, Noori Chamb is often counted among the famous waterfalls in Kashmir.

4. Bangus Valley Waterfalls - Remote and Magical

blog-images

Location: Kupwara District

Best Time to Visit: July to September

Bangus Valley is still untouched by heavy tourism, which makes it perfect for people who want to enjoy nature in its purest form. While the valley itself is known for its wide green meadows, flowing streams, and pine-covered slopes, it also hides some beautiful falls in Kashmir that can only be reached by short treks.

These small but charming waterfalls add to the valley's magical charm. Because the area is so remote, you will find very few tourists, giving you the chance to relax in silence and beauty.

5. Kokernag Spring Waterfall - A Blend of Garden and Water

blog-images

Location: Kokernag, Anantnag District

Best Time to Visit: April to October

Kokernag is known for its fresh water spring that splits into many channels as it flows through a beautifully kept garden. Though it’s not a tall fall, many people see it as one of the top waterfalls in Kashmir because of the peaceful setting.

The garden surrounding the spring is well-maintained, making it a favourite spot for families. The water is icy cold and crystal clear, flowing through different parts of the garden, adding to its charm. It may not be the biggest waterfall in Kashmir, but it’s one of the most peaceful ones. Kokernag mixes man-made beauty with natural charm perfectly.

6. Daksum Waterfalls - The Serene Beauty

blog-images

Location: Daksum Valley, Anantnag

Best Time to Visit: May to September

Daksum is another hidden gem in South Kashmir. The valley is surrounded by deodar forests and alpine scenery. A short trek through the trees takes you to a lovely Kashmir waterfall where the water flows over rocks and creates a calming sound.

This place is perfect for people who want to escape the crowd. It’s not the biggest waterfall in Kashmir, but it’s definitely one of the most peaceful and soul-refreshing ones.

You can also combine your visit with a hike or a camp nearby. Great for couples and nature enthusiasts.

7. Shalimar Waterfall - A Small Beauty Inside a Historic Garden

blog-images

Location: Shalimar Bagh, Srinagar

Best Time to Visit: March to October

While Shalimar Bagh is mainly known for its Mughal garden design, it also features a small but charming man-made waterfall in Kashmir style, which flows through the garden’s layered terraces.

Though not a natural fall, this is a great example of how water features were used in traditional Kashmiri architecture to enhance beauty. If you’re in Srinagar and short on time, a visit to Shalimar Bagh will let you enjoy floral beauty along with a touch of waterfall charm.

8. Tosamaidan Waterfalls - Offbeat and Untouched

blog-images

Location: Tosamaidan, Chere Haroo, Jammu and Kashmir 193411

Best Time to Visit: June to August

Tosamaidan is a wide green meadow, often called the “hidden Switzerland of Kashmir.” Deep inside it are seasonal waterfalls in Jammu and Kashmir that flow down the hills when the snow melts.

Since the area is remote, you’ll need to trek or take a local guide. But once you reach it, you’ll see wildflowers, clear skies, and gentle waterfalls - a paradise for anyone who loves raw nature.

These falls in Kashmir are untouched by tourism, so they offer a truly wild and peaceful experience.

9. Verinag Waterfall - Source of the Jhelum River

blog-images

Location: Verinag 192212

Best Time to Visit: March to November

Verinag is known as the source of the Jhelum River, and the water from the spring forms a small but beautiful Kashmir waterfall as it flows out of the octagonal stone basin built by the Mughals.

The area is peaceful and surrounded by chinar trees and Mughal gardens. While it’s not a large waterfall, it holds great importance as the beginning point of one of Kashmir’s main rivers. The calm surroundings and fresh air make it a lovely stop.

10. Baba Reshi Waterfall - A Quiet Retreat

blog-images

Location: near Baba Reshi, Lal Pora, 193403

Best Time to Visit: April to September

Located near the famous shrine of Baba Reshi, this small waterfall is a perfect escape after a spiritual visit. The water flows gently over the rocks, and the nearby forest adds to the peaceful feeling.

Since it’s close to Gulmarg, it can be easily added to your travel plan. While it may not be a famous waterfall in Kashmir, it is perfect for a short stop and some quiet time.

I had an incredible experience with Wanderon Kashmir trip, From seamless booking to well planned itinerary, they exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail, knowledgeable captains and comfortable accommodations arranged by captains made my trip unforgettable. Guys I recommend Kashmir trip and believe me if you have captains Feroz and Faizal, you guys will have a blast. Faizal bhai ki shayari aur Feroz bhai ki Aawaz (Singing) made my journey memorable. Faizal and Feroz are locals in Kashmir so they can speak Kashmiri language and help you spontaneously and make adjustments, if necessary. Thank you Wanderon for this memorable trip. Summary - Overall, lovely experience starting from all arrangements to managing people expectations and captain ensuring everyone has their share of fun. Booking Experience - It was smooth and seamless, Archita was super helpful and quick with the best offer Team Captain - This has to be a highlight, Sameer Yatoo is a really fun person and genuine guy. He kept up the energy of the group, and would often tell us about importance of places and give us any local guidance or suggestions if needed. He even would go out of the way to ensure best for the people. Had there been a way, WanderOn leadership! If you read this, give him a raise guys! He is far more worth than what this review describes. Itinerary - This was well thought through, did not become hectic, we were able to enjoy without getting absorbed in travel or tired. Rest when you are in Kashmir, the lovely views take all the tiredness away. Agar firdaus bar-roo-e-zameen ast. Hameen ast-o Hameen ast-o Hameen ast. Travel - Tariq bhai and Sameer ensured we got the best travel experience. The weather during the trip for 3 days was not with us, it rained heavily, but Tariq, Sameer helped getting the luggage loaded with no efforts from our end even in the heavy rain. The luggage was collected from our rooms and then loaded. The entire group was amused by this and was really happy with this. Again! WanderOn leadership, give them a raise man! We recently had an amazing trip to Kashmir, and choosing WanderOn for our travel arrangements was the best decision. The trip planned by WanderOn was exceptional. We also wanted to visit Vaishno Devi during our trip, and WanderOn helped us plan it in such a way that we could cover both Kashmir and the Darshan at Vaishno Devi comfortably, allowing us to rest after the journey. Being Jains, we prefer Jain food, and WanderOn did an excellent job fulfilling this requirement. All the hotels booked for our stay were fantastic, with good heating facilities to combat the cold weather in Kashmir. The drivers for our internal journeys were also courteous and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with WanderOn. Thank you WanderOn specially Mansha and Anjalika for organizing such an amazing trip.

🏔️ WanderOn swept me off my feet on an exhilarating holiday to Kashmir, and let me tell you, it was like stepping into a dream (minus the sleep thanks to those early mornings 😴). Five unforgettable days exploring the enchanting beauty of Srinagar, Sonmarg, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg - every moment felt like a page ripped straight out of a fairy tale. ✨ 🌄 Sure, some spots were bustling with tourists, but we found hidden gems that felt like our own little slices of paradise. The sight of snow-capped mountains towering majestically against the clear blue sky was awe-inspiring. The rivers, sometimes calm and other times a force of nature, created a mesmerizing spectacle weaving through valleys. The vast meadows adorned with a variety of flowers, including roses in all colours, added another layer of beauty. These moments reminded me of the magic that exists in nature. 🌹🏞️🌼💫 ✨ What truly made our journey special was our tight-knit group of seven, led by the charming Faisal, our local guide. Meeting fellow travelers from all across India 🇮🇳, half of them solo adventurers, added an extra layer of excitement to our trip. Special thanks to Javedbhai, our skilled local driver, whose expert navigation ensured our safety and comfort throughout the journey. 🚐 A few snags did pop up but they were handled professionally by Faisal and the WanderOn team. 👍 The warmth of the locals was like being wrapped in a cozy blanket, especially while savoring a comforting cup of Kahwa on chilly mornings. ☕ When it comes to the food, vegetarian options were a bit limited, but that didn't stop me from having a culinary feast. From hearty Dum Aloo and flavorful Rajma Dal to mouthwatering Paneer dishes, every bite was a delight. And let's not forget about the gastronomic extravaganza that non-vegetarians are sure to enjoy, especially the legendary Wazwan. 🍲 To sum it all up, our escapade with WanderOn was nothing short of magical. From the awe-inspiring vistas to the mouthwatering delicacies and the genuine warmth of Faisal, Javedbhai, and the people, Kashmir left an indelible mark on our hearts. It's a journey we'll cherish for a lifetime, with memories that'll transport us back to the beauty of Kashmir time and time again. ❤️
