In the village of Tamblang that has not been developed, but it is located just 45 minutes to the east from Singaraja, there are a lot of Bali’s interesting waterfalls, among them Carat Waterfalls. In Balinese language “caratan” means jug or drinking water container. The beauty and serenity of the waterfall makes it a must-visit place on a Bali trip.

There are two kinds of waterfalls in Carat Waterfall. The small one is about 4 metres high and has very high water power with a pool below it. This place guarantees freshness; therefore, many tourists who come here cannot help but swim or play in the water. Additionally, it is only part of Carat Waterfall where you can find a swimming pool. Also note that it would be quite hard to reach the waterfall because an 800 metres descent involves walking across a shaky bamboo bridge.

This article seeks to provide answers to all your questions on Carat Waterfall in Bali including the best time to visit, what else you can do nearby and tips to maximise your enjoyment when visiting this place. Keep Reading!

The perfect time to visit Bali’s Carat Waterfall is during the dry season which usually runs from April to October. Sunny and dry weather prevails in this period, making it the best for trekking through jungles and getting to know the waterfall better. However, if you can put up with the rain then this will be the best time to see it as the waterfall is most powerful at this point offering a dramatic and awe-inspiring sight.

How to Reach Carat Waterfall

  • By Car or Scooter: The popular way that tourists used to get here was by hiring a car or scooter in Bali from Ubud which is approximately 2.5 hours’ drive heading north. The main road leading to the fall is properly maintained however; the last part involves going through such a winding and narrow path within the forest thus you should be careful while driving there.
  • By Guided Tour: If you’re not comfortable driving in Bali, you can join a guided tour that includes transportation to and from the waterfall. This is a convenient option as it often includes other nearby attractions as well.
  • Trekking to the Waterfall: Once you arrive at the parking area, you’ll need to trek for about 20-30 minutes to reach the waterfall. The trail is relatively easy, though it can be steep in parts, and it’s surrounded by lush vegetation, adding to the adventure.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
