President Donald Trump has launched a new "Gold Card" residency program aimed at wealthy immigrants. This Gold Card Visa US will replace the existing EB-5 investor visa program, which has been a common path to permanent residency in the United States.

The change is expected to have a major impact on the US immigration system, especially for Indian applicants who often used the EB-5 visa route.

You Have A Green Card; This Is A Gold Card - Trump

President Trump has announced a new "Gold Card" visa that offers a faster path to US citizenship for those who invest $5 million in the country.

"We're going to be selling a Gold Card. You have a Green Card; this is a Gold Card. We're going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million," Trump told reporters.

The Trump $5 Million Visa option would provide the same benefits as a Green Card but with a quicker route to citizenship for wealthy investors.

Trump $5 Million Visa: Impact On Indians

Indian applicants face financial hurdles under the new Gold Card program, which has significantly increased investment requirements compared to the popular EB-5 visa path. Previously, the EB-5 program allowed investors to secure Green Cards with investments of $1.05 million, making it accessible to many H-1B visa holders from India looking for permanent residency.

With the introduction of the Gold Card, these financial thresholds have jumped dramatically, placing US residency out of reach for all but the wealthiest applicants. This shift particularly affects Indian investors who viewed the EB-5 route as more affordable than traditional employment-based visas.

Many middle-tier investors may now explore other visa categories or investment opportunities in different countries.

The US government is shutting down the EB-5 visa program after 34 years. The program, which started in 1990 to bring foreign money into the US and create jobs, has been criticized for fraud and not working as intended.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained "The EB-5 program was nonsense and a way to get a Green Card at a low price."

President Trump announced his replacement plan, saying "We're going to replace this absurd program with the Trump Gold Card Visa."

More information about the new Gold Card US Visa benefits should be released in the coming weeks. The announcement has already sparked debate about who can access it and how it might change foreign investment in America

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
