The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has caused massive congestion, with Mahakumbh traffic updates indicating jams extending over 300 kilometres. Highways leading to Prayagraj have turned into vehicle parking lots, leaving pilgrims stuck for hours. The situation has prompted authorities to implement the Mahakumbh traffic plan, stopping vehicle movement at several points to manage the rush.
According to Prayagraj Traffic News, roads from Katni, Jabalpur, and Rewa are among the worst affected. Social media is flooded with images showing devotees stranded along key Mahakumbh traffic routes. Officials report that even alternate routes are now witnessing heavy traffic.
The congestion is primarily due to an overwhelming number of pilgrims arriving for the religious event. Despite expectations that crowds would thin after Basant Panchami’s Amrit Snan, Mahakumbh traffic updates suggest the influx of devotees has only increased. Authorities urge travellers to check the Mahakumbh traffic plan and opt for alternative routes to avoid getting stuck.
The Prayagraj Sangam railway station has been temporarily shut down due to overcrowding. The Mahakumbh traffic routes connecting Varanasi, Lucknow, and Kanpur to Prayagraj also remain highly congested, with jams stretching 25 kilometres in some areas.
Officials continue working on easing congestion, but with the fair expected to attract over 40 crore visitors by February 26, Mahakumbh traffic updates suggest challenges will persist in the coming weeks.
