Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur is a must-visit attraction on your Rajasthan Tour

It is a big zoo close to a famous place called Sajjangarh Palace, which is also known as Monsoon Palace. This park is pretty large, covering 36 hectares of land.

In the park, you can see many different kinds of animals. It is a great place to learn about wildlife.

Sajjangarh Biological Park has created a special new app.  This new technology helps make the park visit more interesting and educational.

There are 60 animals of 21 different types. The major attraction of the park is its Mascot! Using an app called Sajjangarh AR Application, visitors can take a selfie with the park’s mascot!

History Of Sajjangarh Biological Park 

The history of Sajjangarh Biological Park was started in 2004-2005. The money for building the park came from the Japan International Co-operation Agency. The park was part of a bigger plan to protect forests and wildlife in Rajasthan.

In 2015, the park was inaugurated by Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Some of the major wildlife attractions in the Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur are: 

Himalayan Black Bear, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Tiger, Sambar, Striped Hyena, Lion, Indian Porcupine, Common Fox, Sloth Bear, Chital, Blackbuck, Jackal, Chousingha, Chinkara, White Tiger, Gharial, Marsh Crocodile, and Star Tortoise. 

If you like birdwatching, you will spot many birds including Peacocks and Peahens, Parakeets, etc. 

The park has lots of trees, bushes, and other plants that naturally grow in this area. These plants are special because they are part of the Aravalli mountains nearby.

There is also a special garden in the park called a botanical garden. Here you can see many different kinds of plants.

Things To Do At Sajjangarh Biological Park 

  1. Sanctuary has many animals to watch.
  2. Go trekking: You can hike from Gorilla Point to Tiger Lake. It is a great way to see beautiful views.
  3. Visit Machla Magra nearby. 
  4. Watch the sunrise and sunset and click pictures.
  5. See a special temple: There is a temple for Lord Shiva near a water hole called Jhar. It is surrounded by Mahua trees. This spot feels very close to nature.
  6. Have a picnic at Tiger Lake: This is a safe area where you can relax and eat. You might even see some plant-eating animals from far away.

The best time to visit Sajjangarh Biological Park is from October to March. During these months, the weather is cooler and nice for walking around.

How To Reach Sajjangarh Biological Park?

  • Flights come from big cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Jaipur
  • The sanctuary is about 31 km from the airport
  • Take a taxi from the airport to the sanctuary

Railways:

  • Many trains come to Udaipur from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai
  • Get off at Udaipur Railway Station
  • The sanctuary is about 11 km from the train station

Roadways:

  • You can go there by taxi, local bus, or auto rickshaw, as the sanctuary is about 10 km from central Udaipur.
