104-Year-Old Shimla Ice Skating Rink Opens For Tourists

The famous Shimla ice skating has opened its doors for winter! Built in 1920, this beloved rink is over 100 years old and is one of the oldest in Asia. Locals and tourists can now enjoy gliding on the ice at this historic spot. As the Shimla ice skating season kicks off, it has been a winter highlight in Himachal Pradesh for generations, drawing both young and old skaters alike. 

“It’s a matter of great joy that we’ve been able to kickstart the season earlier than expected. Registrations are gradually increasing as schools are now closing. Our main attractions include the winter carnival and activities at the Gymkhana, scheduled from December 25 to 31”, said the Secretary of the Shimla Ice Skating Club, Manpreet Singh. 

Shimla Ice Skating Season Highlights

Shimla Ice Skating Rink is seeing an increase in no. of registrations already, these numbers will increase further more post December 20, 2024. Main attractions include Winter Carnival and Gymkhana activities. Though it has been the most awaited attraction, it needs modern amenities to preserve its charm.
