How To Reach Taktsang Cafeteria In Bhutan?

Reaching the Taktsang Cafeteria involves an approximately 1-1.5 hour hike. You can reach the starting point of the hiking trail by vehicle and then start your hike on the Tiger’s Nest trail until halfway. This cafe marks the halfway point of the Tiger’s Nest hike.

Here are a few best ways to reach the starting point of Tiger’s Nest Hiking Trail:

  • By Airways: The Paro International Airport in Bhutan is the closest airport to the Taktsang Cafeteria. Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines offer direct flights from several Indian cities, including New Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodh Gaya, and Guwahati. Upon arrival, you’ll need to take a taxi or pre-booked car to reach Paro town (around 45 minutes), and then another taxi or shared taxi (around 30 minutes) to reach the base of Taktsang Monastery.
  • By Railways: There are no direct train services from India to Bhutan. However, you can reach border towns like Hasimara or nearby cities like Siliguri by train and then proceed by road as mentioned below.
  • By Roadways: Several Indian cities are connected to the Bhutanese border town of Phuentsholing by road. You can travel to Indian cities like Siliguri in West Bengal or Hasimara in Assam by an extensive network of Indian highways and then travel to Phuentosholing. From here, it will take approximately 4-5 hours (155 km) to reach the starting point of Tiger’s Nest trail via Paro.
